This cat feeder works for larger sized kibble
My cat is on Science Diet TD dental food which is a larger kibble. The kibble size Petory takes is 18mm max and the dental kibble is smaller. This feeder works! The programing is a little confusing initially but there are videos and written instructions. Once you get started it is easy.A serving size is 12 kibbles or 1/10 of a gram weight. Our boy is on a calorie restriction because he is overweight and the vet doesn’t want him to gain anymore. She is okay where he is for his size.I spread the feedings out to 4 servings a day… There is no way to enter exact amounts. Our goal was to maintain him at 75 grams per day/270Kcal. I was weighing his food and since I can’t enter that on this feeder and it seems all feeders are built this way , I have had to set it for 80grams per day.I don’t want to under feed him at 70 grams, 75 grams is low enough already, so he is set for a total of 80 grams per day.It is still under the amount he could get if I feed him for his actual weight per TD diet recommendations for portion size per day.The feeder was easy to assemble. I haven’t had to clean it yet but it should be easy.

Great for Siamese cats and other sensitive stomachs!
I bought this to give some flexibility to our petsitters who come to care for our Siamese when we’re out of town. Siamese cats have notoriously sensitive stomachs, and ours is no exception. If he eats too much too quickly, he will lose his lunch – so until now we’d been using a rolling puzzle toy to keep him from eating too quickly. This unit ships with a 10g rotor – meaning each time it dispenses food the minimum it can dispense is 10g (a portion). It can dispense up to 10 portions per meal, and up to 6 meals per day. Each meal can be programmed to dispense a different number of portions, and the portions can be programmed to dispense in immediate succession or with a delay up to 10 minutes between then (selectable in 1-minute increments). In the interests of garnering maximum flexibility over how slowly it could dispense food, I sourced the 5g rotor (Amazon B0BRZSXR32 is the US store product number). Examining our previous feeding regimen, we fed our cat 25g in the morning and 25g in the evening. I weighed 1 portion of food dispensed from the 5g rotor and with the the kibble we use, I got 4g; perfect – 6 portions would be just the right size for a meal.I programmed the feeder to dispense meal portions 5 minutes apart, with the usual AM/PM feedings split into two meals 60-90 minutes apart. This has worked out well, as our cat has not had any issues with stomach upset eating at this pace.Another item I was initially concerned about was how sturdy this unit would be. Our cat loves to find ways to be mischievous – especially where food is concerned. Fortunately the food hopper has a locking mechanism that makes it impossible for animals to pry or break their way inside, so my fears were allayed when I saw how well it was designed. The one issue I can identify with this feeder after having used it for only a few days is that the recorded announcement that plays when it dispenses meals seems to have a bug. This plays the greeting at each meal each time it dispenses a portion – so if you have 3 portions, it plays the greeting 3 times. The issue is that the greeting plays with a static timer (about 20 seconds apart) instead of a timer related to the delay between portions. So if you have 3 portions to dispense for each meal and there’s a 5-minute delay between portions, the greeting plays 3 times in succession (about 20 seconds apart) when it dispenses the first portion, and doesn’t plays again for the other 2 portions several minutes later.Otherwise this looks to be a great way for us to provide some predictability in our cat’s daily routine, especially when we are not home at the usual mealtimes.

Convient but not easy to program initially
My cat is VERY food oriented but she’s also very playful. She was re-homed to us at about 1yo and rather skinny but she’s actually petite stature (dilute Torbie with def orange tabby genes lol). After we had her spayed she became even more food oriented and lately with weather change she’s been annoyingly beggy for food outside feedings. We limit treats to rewards for nail clippings of the m*rder paws and brush out sessions.Anyway, bought this feeder so she would stop begging for food all the time, especially middle of the night wake me up kinda begging. Free feeding was attempted before purchasing. Not her thing. Think she was used to having snacks through the day.Pro: works as it should; convenient; sturdy; lid locks in place; holds a lot of food; window to see food level; makes noise right before dispensing so your cat will be conditioned quickly; adjustable portion sizes per meal; up to 6 feedings per day; ability to slow dispense per feeding.Con: instructions aren’t that easy or clear if you’re not really tech savvy. I’ve had this for almost a year, I’m not stupid and can figure out most things but I still get frustrated/irritated every time I need to reset something (like removing a feeding, adjusting schedule etc). I haven’t changed the clock on it since going back to Standard time from daylight savings b/c I don’t want the aggravation:)Portions: just FYI it’s supposed to be 10g per portion and an active adult cat should get at least 40g/day from what I’ve read online. Kittens and senior cats require different amounts.Haven’t used the voice recorder and probably never will.Didn’t know there was a desiccant thing until after reading other reviews just recently. Also didn’t know you can get a 5g portion thingy to replace the 10g portion thingy that comes with this feeder. I may replace with the 5g because I’m sure the vet will say she needs to lose a few pounds. That way I can keep the same number of feedings (currently 4) with smaller portions. She also gets a small portion of wet food twice a day as well as scoops of vitamin/probiotic.Definitely recommend for price and capacity and convenience. Look elsewhere if ease of setup is a priority. Just my opinion

I haven’t tested long term but out of the box it seems FANTASTIC! There is a QR code which takes you to step by step videos on YouTube for setting it up. You can feed up to six meals a day and you can decide exactly when and how much it will feed. I bought this one to fit my cats very large TD dental kibbles. I also love the feature that it will play a voice recording you made each time it feeds, which will help reinforce the pets recal every single day!

Really great product. The timer set up is a bit fiddly but overall OK. Works well. Cat got used to it within a day.

Works great, you can set it & forget about it. It takes a lot of food in the storage part so no need to fill up lots of times – we got it so our cat would stop meowing early in the morning to wake us up to feed her which worked great! Makes going away a lot easier too.

The features are as-advertised, except the plug-in power has been unreliable for me. It has a USB power cord but did not come with an Australian adapter. When plugged in without batteries, the power kept dropping out, including mid-distribution of food. This meant that the full portion size was not dispensed. Sometimes the power drop out was for long enough to reset the clock, and it had to be re-programmed to make sure food was dispensed at the correct time.Works fine with batteries in, but the power issue makes it less reliable for me and I don’t trust it to properly dispense food if I’m not home.I bought one to try it with the intention of getting two more if it worked (I have three cats). Needless to say, I will not be buying two more.

I have owned this for a year and a half and it works great, never a problem. Easy to program. The battery back-up is excellent. We can go away for days at a time and not worry about the cat getting the proper amount of food. Great for proportion control.
