I have never paid this much for a hose reel before but there is SOME truth to the cliche “you get what you pay for”. This thing is a marvel. Loaded it with 100′ of Giraffe Tools 5/8″ hose (very supple) and the combo works like a charm. Smooth and easy to unroll for use and then just as smooth and easy to roll it back up when done. Sturdy and well made; if it lasts like I think it will, it will outlive several of the “cheaper” hose reels. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I recently needed to replace our backyard hose reel. The one we had was cracked and wobbly. Since we don’t really need one on wheels, I was curious about this model of the Gorilla line of hose reels. They are pricey compared to the plastic ones you can pick up anywhere, but this thing is solid as a rock. When unwinding or reeling the hose back in, the Gorilla doesn’t wiggle or move out of place. It is lower to the ground than some other ones but that is not a big deal unless you would have back issues. It was not especially difficult to assemble; if you’ve had some experience following directions and assembling things it will not be a problem. All of the bolts and even a couple of extra ones were included as well as the hex tool needed, and the holes lined up perfectly with each other. I expect this hose reel to last for many years, even in the South Louisiana heat.

Loathe spending $100 for a hose reel- but this takes the least amount of space and no rust and it winds hose smoothly and very easily. Has a really nice leader hose too -both ends brass and sleeves to prevent kinks. Well thought out design.Doesn’t move around when winding the hose. No leak connections. Fits 100’ hose with not much room to spare.Well made, smooth winding and sturdy.YES RECOMMENS -Buying one for back yard too

Gorilla builds high-quality, heavy-duty garden hoses that are easy to use and will last—no leakage in any connectors and joints. And the reel is effortless to turn. My only complaint is that the heavy-duty patch hose connecting the reel to the water source is too “heavy-duty” to connect and disconnect every use. It meant just to hook up, leave the reel in one place, and forget it. We move the reel around the yard and connect it to two different faucets, and connecting and disconnecting that super-duty patch hose is sometimes tricky. I will be replacing it with something more manageable.

I was hesitant with some of the reviews to spend the money, but I’m not sure why it’s getting negative. This is so well made, sturdy and exactly what I wish we would have purchased two years ago when we bought the cheaper one.We have it sitting on our patio which has pavers and when I pull the hose it comes off nicely and the winding mechanism works very smooth.So glad we bought it and you will be too!
