I use my hose 3 times a week and unwinding it and winding it back up was getting to be quite a chore and then rolling it up so it wasn’t in the way of the mower. We’ll this solved all that. Pulls out easy rolls up easy and since it’s on the side of the house it’s out of the way of the mower. I’m very pleased.

I purchased this item for the first time about 2 years ago. They sold it with a plastic bracket that you mount to your house and it is supposed to support the weight of the reel/housing. Obviously, plastic is not going to do that. After a lot of back and forth, I had to purchase a metal bracket (another $30 which they eventually compensated for). So I’ve used this hose a couple years, and it is holding up well and works ok. So now they sell the metal bracket with the hose so I ordered one for my other yard. It arrives and they have installed a small screw in the bracket that is not removable, at least not without bionic strength. The bracket doesn’t even need the screw because the reel slides down on the bracket. But you need the bracket to be separated in order to mount it to your house. Had 4 people attempt to remove this screw. Tried with a screwdriver, a drill/bit, etc and it is apparently installed at the factory with an impact driver. I had to send this one back as defective and got a replacement. Now the replacement shows up and it’s exactly the same – they’ve put the screw in to where there is no way to remove it without stripping it or damaging the whole thing. Attempted to reach Giraffes customer service on their website, and there is zero support except for an AI Chatbot. I have no choice but to return the 2nd one and never buying from this company again. Made in China and junk. Do not waste your time.

I have mixed feelings about this
So, there are some confusing things about this reel. First is there are two options for the mounting bracket…metal and polypropylene. The metal one costs $30 bucks, but there is no guidance on why one wants metal versus the poly, and even the company’s website is silent on the issue. I contacted support and they say it is personal preference, and no comment on which is stronger. It is confusing, because having a metal bracket that holds the polypropylene studs of the housing is the same weakness with the polypropylene.The second issue is the pressure drop. My house outlet shows 60psi and it is supplied with 1/2 inch PEX piping. You would think a half inch, more or less rigid hose would maintain that, but the outlet pressure is no more than 40psi. That causes a loss of performance.Installing the unit was easy enough, but arriving at the final design can take some fiddling. The instructions need more clarity about anchoring in brick, on a post, into typical home sheathing, and whether getting screws into studs is important.Finally, it is disheartening to know that almost all failure modes require replacement of the entire unit. The literature and the company’s website makes it clear that hoses cannot be replace. It is also very clear that any failure in the retracting mechanism cannot be serviced. Whether these failures occur, or how long before they occur, determines how much of a value this hose reel is. If it lasts a year, then it’s not a good value. If I get three years from it before having to replace it, I might not be upset.

Works great…until it doesn’t.
Works great…until it doesn’t. The retractable feature is awesome! Makes for easy use and clean-up. We’ve had this hose for 3 years. In the past 6 months we started having difficulty getting it to retract back into the housing. This morning, I can’t get it out of the housing at all. My 6ft tall, 250lb husband couldn’t get it to budge either. The same thing happened to our 130ft Giraffe hose earlier this year. So if we decide to replace this one, that will be 4 in 3 years. The hoses are just too expensive to justify that.For reference, we did use this particular hose multiple times a week for the last 3 years.

BEST HOSE EVER!!!
We live on a small (3 acre) acreage (3 acres) with a barn, and as such have gone through soooo many hoses. This hose is by far the best hose we have ever had. It doesn’t leak. It doesn’t drag on the ground. It hangs at whatever height you want (so it isn’t on the ground) pivots perfectly. It was such a hit I have since ordered 2 more. We have one in the barn, one on the side of the house and one discreetly at the front.When it retracts it is super smooth. locks in any position (with a simple extra pull). It is an initial outlay but it last so much longer than any other hoses and it stops me from destroying my ground flowers and cursing. The video is of the one in the barn and the ones with the brick background are on the side of the house. Sturdy material. Super long (well one is 100 feet and 2 are 50′. I can’t say enough about these. I even convinced my sister to get one!

Hose retracts and works fine however weight of hose filled with water has caused plastic mounting to sag with sun exposure. Would not recommend this design for the 100ft hoseUPDATED: Fantastic customer service. Followed up on my review and replace unit Seller deserves 5Star based on desire to make it right

Sometimes gets stuck when reeling in. It is fairly heavy so make sure what ever it is you have it attached to is strong and/or reinforced. It is a smaller gage hose but has lots of pressure. The spray nozzle works well, the auto reel works good other than Sometimes having to give it a little tug to get it to continue to roll in. It is very easy to install, also easy to take off the mount to bring in for storage.

Quite disappointed as the reel jammed within one month. Reached out to the company as they claim to have a 2 year warranty, it’s been over a week now and no one has still gotten back to me. The product is manufactured so inconsistently where there are different screws for the same type of holes and some are very difficult to take off. One of the holes was even held together with a glue instead of a screw (my first time seeing something like this). Heard good reviews about the product but very disappointed that it jammed so fast, couldn’t even be a DIY fix and no customer support is why I give this a 0 star. Also another thing to note: the bolting screws that screw onto side of house are MASSIVE. will need an extremely large drill bit to secure. Might not even fit between the grout of the brick. Yardworks from Canadian tire is decent. Got 3 years out of that.
