Prob my favorite purchase of ’24.
It was a slow day at work; I was scrolling through July Prime Day sales. A million random items. Scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll. I spot this itrem…that I was in no way looking for. I’m intrigued. We recently replace the roof, painted the house, added gutters, and relandscaped. My 35 year old house looks great, but we don’t have irrigation. We’ll get there; back off. I planted around 50 plants. Using a hose, you have to recoil every time sucks, and I just used to use a watering can on the flowers as the hose was too rough, but that took around ten watering can full of water just to water the flowers.I cannot tell you just how convienient this hose spool is. It reaches almost every corner of my yard. It works flawlessly. It extends out as far as I want, holds to that lenght, and the retracks under control the whole distance, perfictly coiling left to rignt, left to ringt like a machine. It’s so much better than having to ciol up a 100 ft hose against the side of my house. It takes less than a minute to retract back into the housing. I love it. I live in Central Florida, and it rains every day from June to December, but it never rains in the spring, and this has made my life so much easier.I have no idea if this hose spool is any beter than the other 50 ones being sold. They all seem very simular. I only purchached this one becase of the prime deal; it was impluse – no research. A lot of reviewers said a specific part would break, but that the seller replaced the part for free. I just know I’m really enjoying my hose spool a lot since I installed it.

The best hose. Seriously.
Hoses are kind of the worst. They leak, they pinch, they get tangled, they sit in a gross pile and sun-bake until they disintegrate. At least that’s what all my previous hoses have done. Until now.We have now had this hose installed for a year. Never once have I had a single issue. It is sturdy, convenient, and not a total eye sore. It pulls and retracts so smoothly, the inner guide that ensures it winds evenly is genius. It’s so long that I can water both my backyard and front yard with the same hose. But because it only pulls out as much as you need, you never have an unmanageable pile when you need to water something nearby.I love this hose. I never thought I would care so much about a hose. And yet, here I am, leaving a review, after a whole year.Buy it. Seriously.

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 Stars is because sometimes it takes some effort to get it to catch so it doesn’t retract. It was easy to mount, looks great, works great, we will see how it lasts.I would buy it again.

So I have been agonizing for a while over what hose reel to buy. I have a narrow strip of grass between a shared sidewalk and the side of my house where my water spout is. I didn’t need a 100’+ reel since my area is not that large, but I wanted the convenience of a reel for watering. I almost bought a 100′ heavy duty one from Costco, but I was worried about its size.I then saw this one. The gray colors matched my house and it had a 65′ option which was more than enough for me.As another reviewer mentioned, 7/16 is the size of the bit you need for the screws. That was the most challenging part for me as I didn’t have one that size and had to go to 2 stores to find it (it was only about $10).Install was very simple – 4 holes, add in the anchors, and screw in the faceplate. I did add some silicon around the screw holes and the face plate just to help with water from seeping into house from the screw holes.The screws/anchors they give you are pretty good quality and more than adequate for the job. The “swinging bracket” is simply a plastic bar stuck through – at first I was disappointed by this, as I was expecting some type of metal spring bracket, but then its simplicity actually was a benefit. I had worried about the depth of the unit sticking out into the shared sidewalk, then HOA getting on my case, but with this mount I can actually keep it stored against the wall vs. sticking out, so that isn’t a concern!My first test with watering it seemed to go well. It pulled out and retracted easy, and the water pressure was actually better since it was a 1/2″ hose.Overall, I am pretty happy on the onset with this purchase. I am thinking of buying another for my backyard area, but I want to wait a bit to see how this holds up!PROS:-Good Quality-Easy to Install-Good Hardware-Nice to have smaller size hose option-comes with both a 9 function spray nozzle and a single spray end-2 year warranty-ability to store against the wall vs. sticking outPOTENTIAL CONCERNS (which may not really be concerns):-When I first opened the package, I noticed that the spray nozzle had an odd red marking on it, which led me to believe I might have received a returned item – but the rest of the items seemed brand new.-So far it doesn’t leak, but I noticed that when I pull out the hose, as it “locks” in place there is a quick shot of water from the spout. I did try and tighten it a bit more, so that might help, but it was only happening when the hose would lock in place.-I opted for this “light duty” hose reel over a “heavy duty” hose reel, so I am hoping it will last. I am mainly using it for watering plants and occasionally washing a car, so I am guessing it should be good – but time will tell!-on the top of the plastic bar for the bracket there is a male end screw top. I am not sure what that is for, and I don’t see it documented anywhere.======UPDATE=======I have enjoyed using this reel so much that I bought a second for my back yard area!In chatting with the company I found that the threaded part of the support bar is to hold the spray attachment. It does hold it, but not too well.Very happy with this reel, and I definitely am glad I could get a second so they both match!

I’m torn on whether or not to give 3 or 4 stars, I did a lot of research and bought this on Jul 4, 2023 with the hope that it would be the last Garden hose that I bought, but the spring located inside the reel has broken and will no longer roll back up, so was my hopes/expectations of the hose being long lasting just unrealistic? should I give 4stars instead of 3? (this was just personal home use and not even heavy use 🙁

I was so excited about this product and it worked amazingly well for the first few months. Then the retractable hose system stopped working, which is the reason I bought this product. Very poor quality mechanism, would not recommend spending the money.

For the most part this product lived up to expectations. It is severely let down by the hose end that joins to the outside spigot. It almost seems like it was designed to leak. There is no way it can work without leaking. I simply cut it off and replaced it with a good quality hose end that cost me an addition $20.When buying new I expect all parts to be in a workable condition. I sincerely hope the rest of my use of this product is better.

This hose reel has good reviews from wire cutter, so I decided to try it, over buying another Gardena retractable hose. I regret my choice! After one month of use it doesn’t retract. The plastic is flimsy and the hose kinks much easier than their competitor. Disappointed.
