Cocoa, Marshmallow, and Smoke
I’ve used a lot of Aromatech oils, with our rotating favorite being The Hotel. For the past couple of years we’ve used Holiday Spice around Christmas, but it’s a very strong “Christmas” smell and doesn’t really fit during Oct/Nov/Jan. I wanted something nice for fall and winter that isn’t overly pine-forward. I think this is a great fall/winter scent if you don’t want traditional Christmas cinnamon/clove/etc. My wife and daughter both really like it, so it’s a winner.I expected this particular scent to be very woody and smoky, so I was kind of surprised when I opened the bottle and smelled a blend of sweet and smoky marshmallow/cocoa notes. After adding it to the diffuser it opened up quite a bit and I was able to smell more complexity and it really grew on me. It’s hard to explain, but imagine hot cocoa, toasted marshmallow, and pleasant underlying smoke that is definitely reminiscent of sitting around a warm campfire with family. It’s not cloying or super sweet as you might expect from reading about marshmallow or hot cocoa notes, and doesn’t smell artificial at all. It’s several subtle scents blended together and it’s quite nice. The smoke note is warm and slightly woody, the only way I can describe it is less like “burning black smoke” and more like “warm white campfire smoke”.Some Aromatech oils are very strong and can be incredibly overwhelming in a small space (Santal, looking at you) but Campfire is less intense and works well in any of the diffusers (we own the HVAC one and the smaller BT one) to cover your home with a nice warm scent that can be used from October through January.I’ve seen some reviews that are very negative about this scent, which is sort of puzzling to me. I definitely was expecting something smoky and woody based on the name, but I wasn’t upset by what was in the bottle. I have sampled or purchased about 80% of Aromatech oils, and this is definitely one of the better ones I’ve smelled for the season. Some can be very reminiscent of perfume/cologne, but this is a great warm home scent that makes me think of past holiday memories.

I ordered the santal night and I assumed it was going to be earthy, smokey etc as described in the description but when I received it, there’s the strongest smell of honey and it smells very sweet. Not sure if I love it or hate it. Going to test it out and see if maybe it’s just because it’s a strong concentration compared to being put in an essential oil diffuser but still dissatisfied with what I was told and what I received.
